Family Affair

This site was created to chronicle and share my genealogy research. It is also a tool for others that are searching for their family members and to see if there is any connection to my family. This is a project that is going to take years to complete. It has been a labor of love, a great deal of fun and quite stimulating.

If you are interested in the various surnames, you can start with the ones across the top of this page or you can look for them in the categories section to the right.

Please leave comments on any of the posts/articles that you read or email me using the form on the right. I do want your feedback, I will try to answer any question, and I desire your interaction. Love to know how to improve this site to better serve you,

Three McMillian Infant Graves

Posted by Tonya Keitt Kalule

These are photos of Mt. Calvary Methodist Church and the surrounding burial grounds.

While visiting the McRae, Lumber City area back in September, I was able to visit the burial site of William and Martha McMillian.  There were quite a few other McMillians and McRaes buried here as well.

This photo shows the addition added on to the original building.

There are three infant graves at the head of Martha and William McMillians grave marker.  Indicating that these babies died either at birth or shortly after.  Now these markers show that they were named Henry and Oscar and were the sons of Fred and Silla McMillian.  Unfortunately, I am not aware of a Fred and Silla McMillian.  Even though the mother of William McMillian was named Priscilla and referred to as Silla, even in the census records.  She died between 1908, because her husband Stephen remarried in 1908.  I knew before that she died before 1910, but now I
realized that it was probably before 1908.

The question now is who is Fred and Silla McMillian.

Fred McMillian is the  grandson of William and Martha Clark McMillian; the son of Oscar McMillian.
